"Linda, your loving spirit, your generous heart and sense of humor was such a blessing in health care. You were always positive and optimistic, even in the face of adversity, and such a mentor and coach to those around you. You will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts forever. You leave a legacy and wherever you are, I know you are sipping on a refreshing beverage and making people laugh. Love you and miss you Linda. "

""Linda came, saw what needed to be done and defined her role in making the world better. Then she tried to explain so we would understand...and that is when she had us all laughing. She leaves a legacy of mindfulness, compassion and respect.""

About her

Linda Herman

Linda Herman

Born: May 9th, 1949

Passed on: February 26th, 2017

Linda Ann Herman died on February 26th after a courageous battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her grown children (Kimberly, Ryan, Courtney and Ashlyn) and her life partner and soul mate, Patricia Horstead. She was predeceased by her little brother, Randy and her mother Terry, Uncle Gib and Uncle Bob. She is survived by her father Remi Herman and sister Wendy Herman as well as her Uncle Fred, Aunt Pat and Aunt Shirley as well as many cousins. Linda was generous of spirit, caring and compassionate and would light a room with her warmth, her humour and her razor sharp wit. She was the “life of the party” and loved to make people laugh. She lived her life aligned with her purpose and would proclaim that she had an amazing career as a nurse, teacher/ mentor and health care leader. Linda trained to be a nurse in Chatham Ontario and began her career at Sick Kid’s in Toronto. She nursed in Parry Sound prior to coming out west. She found her passion in nursing as an Emergency nurse and worked at Langley Memorial, MSA in Abbotsford and St Paul’s during the AID’s crisis. Linda moved into her first leadership position as Head nurse at St. Paul’s and subsequently Lions Gate Hospital. One of the highlights of Linda’s career was teaching in the Emergency Nursing Diploma program at BCIT. Linda loved to mentor and encourage those who also had the passion for emergency nursing. Linda had a provincial impact on hospitals and health care working for the Ministry of Health. Linda finished her career as a health care leader working in quality and improvement, and as a Director at Chilliwack hospital, Maple Ridge hospital and finally at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Linda’s favourite and spiritual place was the golf course. She never tired of playing the game, saving all her score cards for future reference. She loved to cook, read voraciously, played and coached hockey and softball. Linda loved cars, especially driving her convertible, followed politics, always being up to date on the latest world happenings and was an avid and talented photographer. If Linda was in your life you felt blessed. Linda will be missed by family and friends and would ask that we live life fully, treat others gently, love unconditionally and remember her “Hermanism’s”. The Linda Herman Golf Spring Fling and Celebration of Life was held on Sunday May 28, 2017. We will honour Linda will an annual golf tournament/fund raiser.
